VIRTUAL LEARNING CODE OF CONDUCT

This policy states Rattle and Roll’s virtual tuition procedures in order to ensure that all children who learn with us, do so in a safe environment. This policy works closely with our Safeguarding policy and as such our core safeguarding principles are:


  • It is the responsibility of Rattle and Roll Ltd to safeguard and promote the welfare of children whilst in our care and the DSL to oversee this.
  • Children remain the responsibility of their parents/guardians during the delivery of virtual classes
  • Children who are and feel safe make more successful learners
  • Policies will be reviewed annually, unless an incident or new legislation or guidance suggests the need for an earlier date of review.

We recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued.


Context

Rattle and Roll operates classes and clubs in a variety of contexts. All activities undertaken by Rattle Roll will be done so in accordance with this policy.

There are times when physical lessons are not possible, and as such Rattle and Roll will offer ‘virtual tuition’ opportunities. This could be is a child is unable to attend school for medical, religious, social needs etc or when schools are closed.

Delivery of virtual learning

Virtual learning will be done through carefully selected programmes and means, specified by Rattle and Roll. The platforms used will be in accordance with our safeguarding policy and in line with DfE recommendations. These will be done once prior agreement has been given by parents/carers (this agreement will be in the form of parents signing up to virtual classes) and only at times specified by Rattle and Roll. All virtual learning experiences will be prior planned, documented and recorded.


Safeguarding during virtual learning

All our safeguarding measures, set out in the Safeguarding policy, will be adhered to as normal and any concerns will be reported following this policy at all times. Teachers are responsible for identifying any safeguarding concerns or observations via written completion of forms and to speak with the DSL in the given timeframes.


Virtual Learning - Code of Conducts

All staff, children and parent/carers will agree to the appropriate code of conduct (this is done when parents sign up to virtual lessons) before any virtual learning activity is undertaken. The virtual learning policy will be available for people to view on the website at www.rattleandrollperformance.com. Any breeches of these code of conduct will be formally investigated and action taken by Rattle and Roll.

Virtual Learning – Code of Conduct for Teachers

DO ensure all work is prior agreed and requested through Rattle and Roll staff, and not arranged directly with parents/carers.
DO ensure no phone numbers or contact details are stored in you personal electronic devices, these should always be accessed from Rattle and Roll’s secure register system when required.
DO ensure you are in a public room in your home (i.e. not in a bedroom or bathroom)
DO ensure a parent is present at the beginning of EVERY virtual lesson you deliver to give their consent to the learning. Please then ensure the child is asked if they are happy to have the learning experience before it commences.
DO ensure that phone numbers and email address’ used belong only to the parent or carer of the child – do not use mobile numbers, email address’ etc of children for virtual learning. If you suspect this is the contact that has been supplied to Rattle and Roll please inform a manager of this immediately and do not proceed with the lesson.
DO ensure all virtual learning experiences run to time, schedule and follow Rattle and Roll planning/scheme of work etc
DO ensure only appropriate language is used in the vicinity of the recording equipment
DO ensure no other adults will be in the room for the duration of the lesson
DO read the Rattle and Roll Child Protection Policy and Safeguarding Policy apply it’s principles in all your work.
DO treat everyone with dignity and respect.
DO set an example you would wish others to follow.
DO allow young people to talk about any concerns they may have.
DO remember someone else might misinterpret your actions, no matter how well-intentioned.
DO take any allegations or concerns of abuse seriously and refer immediately.
DO NOT record, photograph, screen shot etc any learners/learning experience during virtual learning.
DO NOT contact learners outside of the arranged learning experience
DO NOT trivialise abuse.
DO NOT form a relationship with a young person that is an abuse of trust.
DO NOT use inappropriate language
DO NOT let allegations, suspicions, or concerns about abuse go unreported.
Virtual Learning – Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers

DO ensure all virtual learning is booked with Rattle and Roll and not directly with teaching staff
DO ensure contact details (phone numbers and email addresses) used for virtual learning belong to the parent/carer and not the child. No children’s phone number or email address’ are to be shared with Rattle and Roll for safeguarding reasons.
DO ensure your child’s lesson is set up in a public room in your home (i.e. not in a bedroom or bathroom)
DO ensure your child is wearing appropriate clothing for the lesson
DO ensure a parent/carer is present at the beginning and end of EVERY virtual lesson with your child and that you give your consent to the teacher. Your child will also be asked if they are happy to have their lesson in the virtual method.
DO ensure you are punctual at beginning your child’s virtual lesson, these will be run strictly to time and missed time from late arrival will not be made up.
DO be aware that these lessons will run in line with the Rattle and Roll Child Protection Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
DO treat our teachers with dignity and respect.
DO ensure there is only appropriate language used in the vicinity of the lesson, this includes TV, gaming etc which may be happening near by the pupil child.
DO NOT record, photograph, screen shot etc any learners/learning experience during virtual learning. This is to protect our teaching staff who have not given their consent to this.
DO NOT contact teacher outside of the arranged learning experience, all bookings and arrangements will be made through the Rattle and Roll office.

Virtual Learning – Code of Conduct for Learners

DO make sure you are happy to have you lesson through a virtual method – talk to your parent/carer about this before you have your lesson
DO make sure you always use your parent/carers phone or email address when working virtually with Rattle and Roll teachers – never use your own mobile phone or email address.
DO let your teacher know at the beginning of your lesson that you are happy to have you lesson in this way
DO behave how you would in a ‘normal’ lesson at school – this includes listening and trying hard.
DO let your teacher know if you have any questions or concerns about your lesson
DO NOT record, photograph, screen shot etc any parts of your lessons
DO NOT contact teacher outside of your lesson
